Indoor Plenum Distribution Fiber Cable

Indoor Plenum Distribution Fiber Cable

Primus Cable Plenum Distribution Fiber Optic Cable is commonly utilized within trunking, local-area networks (LAN) and further distribution applications; these particular application sites require a small, lightweight, and versatile fiber structure to be employed throughout airducts, plenums, and additional air handling spaces. A single termination point is all that is required when facilitating the use of our UL Listed Indoor Plenum Distribution Fiber Cable.

Plenum Codes and Regulations

The National Electric Code (NEC) defines a plenum as a “compartment or chamber to which one or more airducts are connected and form part of the air distribution system.” As a plenum, the space above an acoustic tile ceiling would have to extend above other rooms in the same building or be open to ducts connecting it to other parts of the building. The primary concern in regard to code stipulations is that in the case of a fire, the burning material within a plenum airspace could contaminate the air if the materials were not regulated. For that reason, there are codes to restrict certain types of materials from placement within a plenum area.
