Description

Micro-Distribution Plenum Fiber Optic Cable, OM4 Multimode, 2mm Subunits

Achieve speeds of up to 10 GB per second with this space-saving micro fiber optic cable. Lightweight yet durable, micro-distribution cable installation is quick and efficient. Because micro fibers are thinner in diameter, they can be pushed through smaller areas and have a higher bend radius than larger cables. Additionally, compact cables allow you to bundle greater numbers of fiber together to boost your network's performance.

Multimode optical fiber cables permit multiple signals to be sent simultaneously, increasing data throughput with reduced heat and energy consumption. The flame-resistant PVC exterior jacket of the plenum rated cable restricts fire spread and smoke damage. Each fiber is surrounded by aramid yarn, a fabric known for its high tensile strength and failure to melt. Standard ripcord is also constructed with aramid. Footage markers are printed directly on the cable, as well as fiber type, construction, and NEC rating.

Available in 2 or 12 strand options.

Cleaning your fiber connector end faces and components regularly is crucial for avoiding a total network failure. Ensure your optical fiber system is working properly and prevent major network issues with fiber cleaning kits, pens, fluids, and wipes.

Features

  • 250μm colored bare fibers
  • Small O.D. for tight spaces
  • NFPA262(plenum)
  • Available in all fiber types
  • OFNP rated for indoor installation
  • Meets the application requirement of National Electric Code (NEC) Article 770

Applications

  • Data centers.

Additional Information

Multi-Mode cable commonly has a diameter in the 50-to-100 micron range (typical multimode fiber core diameters are 50 or 62.5 micrometers). Multimode fiber gives you high bandwidth at high speeds (10 to 100MBS - Gigabit to 275m to 2km) over medium distances. Light waves are dispersed into numerous paths, or modes, as they travel through the cable's core typically 850 or 1300nm. However, in long cable runs (greater than 3000 feet [914.4 meters), multiple paths of light can cause signal distortion at the receiving end, resulting in an unclear and incomplete data transmission so designers now call for single mode fiber in new applications using Gigabit and beyond.
