OTDR testing is performed by transmitting and analyzing pulsed laser light traveling through an optical fiber. The measurement is said to be unidirectional as the light is insert at extremity of a fiber optic cable link. The MINI2 OTDR’s compact design delivers a lightweight, truly hand-held device.

Our optical fiber identifiers are easy-to-use test instruments that detect the presence of signals on optical fibers to make sure that your optical fiber alive. It is an important tool for field technicians – assuring that your optical fibers are not disconnected and providing the ability to trace fibers from end to end.

By simply clamped the tester onto a fiber, where they induce a safe macro-bend and allow a small amount of light to escape. Units use this light to detect the presence of network traffic, test tones or CW signals and indicate the direction of the signal.

The Visual Fault Locators (VFL) and the OTDR work hand in hand with each other when it comes to locating breaks in an optical fiber. The OTDR can provide the operator with the distance the break. The VFL allows the operator to see the break in the optical fiber.
