A plenum space is a space used for air ventilation, like the space in a drop ceiling or anywhere where air is circulating within a building. In order to run cable in these spaces, a special jacket is needed. This plenum, or CMP jacket, offers a high rate of fire resistance and is designed to release less smoke and toxins when compared to riser or CM jackets.
